2nd - 4th february 2010,
those were the days for me to attend the "National Science & Mathematics Education Workshop For Stake-Holders 2010" in Shah Alam. The theme for the workshop was "Innovative and Creative Malaysians". the workshop was organized by the Academy Science of Malaysia ( ASM ).
actually, there are a lot of new things that i learned in those three days.
the speakers were from the Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum; the Principal of Cempaka International School; the CEO of Adni Islamic School; the CEO of SAPURA Smart School; the representative from MARA, the officer from Petrosains, the representative from Australian International School Malaysia and the fellow of Academy Science of Malaysia itself.
the workshop was meant for Guru Cemerlang from all over the country and also the representative from universities, as well as the officer from MOE, MOHE, private schools, MARA and Petrosains.
in my point of view, the education field ( esp. Science & math ) needs more attention from the policy makers / goverment. as this is the source for human resource and human capital for the future of the nation, we are not attended well. the educators at least must be rewarded with better work perk and better salary. current assessment system ( in school level ) is too exam oriented, the teachers can't put enough force on the building of characters by inculcating noble values in children. everybody in the country is looking for how many A's can be achieved by a child, how many straight A's students can be produced by a school, and which school is a better school. what a pressure for the practitioners!!
in the workshop like this, we can cry our hearts out and squeeze our minds to come out with scores of suggestions and solutions. but, if the responsible parties do not play their role well, do not take proper, responsible actions, it won't be of any good. please, accede to the academician to think what is the best for our education, do not intermingle it with political aim.
however,
selagi belum tutup mata,
kerja...kerja...kerja...
